Yuan Yang
Yuan Yang is located in the south of the Yunnan Province and is 273 kilometers from Kunming. The region is like a letter “V” with mountains all around and slopes in the south. In the history, the people beyond the mountains didn’t know Yuan Yang because mountains blocked the traffic. In 1980s, people launched water conservancy and electricity projects in large scale. After that, Yuan Yang began to march forward to the world.
Yuan Yang people carry forward the spirit of the “the Foolish Old Man Removed the Mountains” and keep building terraced rice fields on the mountains with simple tools generation after generation. Yuan Yang has its natural advantages: high mountains, deep rivers, primeval forests and vast marshes. The forest can store up water and then let it out slowly. The people in Yuan Yang dig ruts and draw water to build terraced rice fields by making good use of the advantages. They create a great cause in the history of farming.
Yuan Yang has plenty of fog because the fields are always wet. The sea of clouds consists of sea level clouds, seething clouds, waterfall clouds, shuttling clouds, jade belt clouds and heaven-ladder clouds. They keep moving up & down. A lot of changes happen in a moment. With the fog and clouds over the mountains of terraced rice fields, it provides a magnificent scene for photographers.
